Why is he raving on about an ADSL router/modem?
That won't work with cable. Telstra already supply and install the modem.
You need a DSL/Cable router that connects to the Telstra-supplied modem.

I was just mentioning the ADSL router that he has experience with. The firewall part is similar from what I read with the Linksys router only user manual.

From my reading the router without a modem needs a RJ45 for the modem to be connected if one wants the modem connected to the router. I have yet to come to one with a USB connection on router for the modem.

514656 2007-01-10 10:23:00 If a person bought a router "without" a modem.
One can choose to plug in a ADSL modem or plug in a cable modem. AFAIK this is via RJ45 and not USB. Although there may be one on the market that I have not seen.
