When you've uninstalled the game before a reinstall, have you tried deleting every reference to it? Eg in the Registry? If not, it might be worth a try (keeping inmind of course to take all precautuions and backup the Registry first). If you bought the game from a reputable dealer, perhaps you could take it back and ask for a replacement. They shouldn't say no because it's no loss to them. |

Could a hot cpu cause something like this to occur because mine is a little prone to getting hot. It probably wouldn't be fair to isolate this problem to just age of empires as the other games are played very rarely in comparison. |

Here: P4 1.6Ghz CPU, 40GB HDD, 300W PSU, 700MB+ MB RAM, P4S33 MOBO, ATi Radeon 9250 256MB graphics card. lol. Celeron is still sh*t. Maybe 512MB is not enough. The only thing is crashes the most is NFS Most Wanted and NFS Carbon. :( Especially bounty time during the highest pursuit. |

Answer:In a word Yes.Its a strong possibility, but there are others its a process of tracking it down,in saying that keeping your computer cool is very important. It could be a combo of reasons. For cooling its good to to have a front case fan to bring in cool air into the computer which cools the harddrives at the same time,-(harddrives should be kept cool as your OS,programmes,music,games...etc are stored on them and you dont want problems with them) and the air passes through the case supplying cool air to the rest of the computer. There should be a fan at the back of the computer case to take out the hot air from the components. Take the side panel off and see if there is dust in the computer case, and if there is any in your fans. Remember about anti-static precautions before you enter the case. When you play a game for a good length of time put your hand behind the case and feel how hot the expelled air is from the computer case. Cool, is very good Warm, is OK Hot, you should look at what cooling you have, get better,or get more fans-(whatever the situation calls for). Also when was the last time you checked the thermal compound/paste on your hsf-(heat sink fan) on the cpu-has it dried up? Are the psu cables tucked/tied away tidy to allow better airflow? If you are unsure about doing any of this go to a shop and get them to do it for you. (Ask how much they will charge you first though,it may shock you!)Or get a pc savy mate to help you out. A better graphic card and more ram would be a nice upgrade. |
