514217 2007-01-09 08:32:00 I've received a message that free AVG is going to be disconnected soon, but that I can continue as a subscriber.
Are there any other free and effective anti virus programmes out there?

514218 2007-01-09 08:33:00 I think thats only for 7.1. Uninstall it and get 7.5 Speedy Gonzales (78)

514220 2007-01-09 08:37:00 I don't know how good it is but Avast was on the magazine CD recently. I assume you are using Windows. I was using AVG for Linux but don't know if the new 7.5 is either free or available for Linux yet. Consequently, i am running without antivirus at present. However, I do have the firewall configured so should be OK.

514221 2007-01-09 08:38:00 You need to go to the AVG website and download it, it is not an update... The_End_Of_Reality (334)

Its only 7.1 and may expire the same as the Windows version. May pay to check somehow and confirm this.

Before u get it / install it.

514225 2007-01-09 09:43:00 Hi...Will the new version run on my old Win98....currently running 7.1.410?
Cheers Ken.

514226 2007-01-09 10:08:00 Paradox - it runs on Win 98 SE at least.

Notice that v. 7.5 at least starts in DOS - if you check its properties in Desktop it shows a DOS tabbed page set not a Windows one.
