515579 2007-01-13 20:52:00 I have a number of photos of groups of people. I would like to be able to identify a single person by putting the cursor over the image and seeing their name pop up. Is there any way that this can be done? All help much appreciated. K.B. kbcad (1025)
515580 2007-01-13 21:16:00 Yup, you'll have to load the pic in some graphic program, and put their name on the face. Speedy Gonzales (78)
515581 2007-01-13 22:04:00 You could try it with image maps. You can create image maps in graphics programmes such as photoshop, but I don't know how to insert a pop-up label.

Another way is to use something like Dreamweaver which is a website authoring programme. When the page that the image is attached to is viewed in a browser, the portion of the image map that you hover your mouse over shows the alt tag, which could be the person's name. The problem with this method is that alt tags don't work with all browsers.

Sorry can't be more helpful, but I feel the answer is amongst the above somewhere if you investigate further.

[edit] I now see that a rollover effect for the section of image map can be included in an image map created in Adobe Image Ready.

515582 2007-01-13 23:19:00 You should be able to do it with an image map - which can be made in frontpage as well - and then make the names pop up buy putting title="john smith" in the URL, <a href="#" title="john smith"></a> it will go in the small box beside the cursor

(this is theoretical I havn't done it before)

515584 2007-01-14 02:27:00 Image capture/editing program "SnagIt" can also do this (and a lot more!) - licence around US$40. (This is not spam - just a happy user!) johcar (6283)

515586 2007-01-14 03:04:00 Hi johcar... I too use it daily - writing illustrated training manuals. Version 8 is fantastic. Scouse (83)
