515057 2007-01-11 23:09:00 I'm thinking of upgrading my pc its not all that good and i was wandering whether now is really the best time to do this with vista coming out.

Also would u suggest slowly upgrading your pc sorta here and there adding something to it or doing it all in one go.

515060 2007-01-11 23:21:00 Suggest you don't let Vista have anything to do with your upgrade decision. From everything I've learned about it it's not going to be hugely popular. So just go ahead and upgrade. Greg (193)

Agreed 100%. I read the latest review in APC Mag recently and about the only thing worth while in Vista at this stage is the improved search which would make it as fast as what Apple currently has since OS X 10.4 was released about 12 months ago. Other than that I don't see a whole lot of redeeming features in it. Apparently the British education facilities are being advised to avoid Vista for at least another 12 months.

515062 2007-01-11 23:28:00 Ok well should i add to my current pc or start from scratch?

If i was to add to my current pc what upgrade would give me the best performance gain?

Sorry about the questions hardware is not my strongest point.

515065 2007-01-11 23:44:00 You should most definitly start over rather then upgrade your current box, There is no way you will get a worthwhile return from investing money it the current system.

Anyhow, Budget for about $200 on a case and psu, then an Intel Dual Core CPU, at least a 7600GT vid card if you want games to run at a decent rate, 2 GB ram, DVD Writer, 200GB sata HD,good quality Mobo.If you go down this route then ask and we can give you specific examples.

At best retain your screen, speakers, KB, Mouse if they are any good.
