| 516231 | 2007-01-15 05:44:00 | Seen a few posts on this around the net, no help on fixes though (not for single core CPUs anyway). Lady has had Spybot and AdAware for some time. 1.7Ghz Celeron, 256Mb DDR266, WinXP SP2. In the last week Spybot is very slow, especially when it gets to CoolWebSearch, it takes so long she thinks its hung. I watched it and yep, its crawling. Booting into Safe Mode helped but not that much. It was still slow. All scans have come up clean, ditto Hijackthis, no unnecessary startup items, no clutter CCleaner used regularly. It boots a bit slow too but nothing like Spybot. And Spybot used to be reasonably zippy. Any ideas? |

| 516232 | 2007-01-15 05:50:00 | pctek, mine does this also same place I put it down to scanning for variants of the CoolWebSearch badie, not slow just appears to hang in that area my specs are 2.8 intel Hyper Threaded (enabled), 512 ram, xp home |

Well mine doesn't. And I've never seen one do this yet on any other PCs either. What I found on the net was setting affinty to one core helped, but it doesn't apply to this lady. I just updated mine now, ran it again, it hesitated a nano-second at CoolWebSearch then went on....so there must be something..... |

Nope......I see a few questions on Spybots forum, none of which have any helpful answers.......... Anyway I just updated too, a minute or so ago, scanned and I don't get the slowness so it can't be just the update.... |
