The employer's computer system is for work. Ways to get around security might turn out to be ways which give reason to start looking for another job. | Graham L (2) | ||
| 516064 | 2007-01-15 23:18:00 | Don't telstra/paradise have a major problem with their newsgroup server. Well at least you are supporting an Australia company.I haven't used it for some time..... OK.. i been testing some of the binary groups... That has to be the most demanding right? Granted, it was just a 5 minute test, however.... No problems at all. |

| 516065 | 2007-01-15 23:24:00 | I haven't used it for some time . . . . . OK . . i been testing some of the binary groups . . . That has to be the most demanding right? Granted, it was just a 5 minute test, however . . . . No problems at all . I have heard that it stops working 2/3 of the way through the month, every month, because they run out of bandwidth with their supplier, and they don't plan on fixing it . I know a lot of people are really annoyed about it . |

I know a lot of people are really annoyed about it.well it would appear the news server is in NZ, and hangs directly of one of telstras (Clears) servers traceroute news.paradise.net.nz traceroute to news.paradise.net.nz (203.97.37.6), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets 1 192.168.0.1 (192.168.0.1) 0.332 ms 0.283 ms 0.246 ms 2 203-97-119-1.cable.telstraclear.net (203.97.119.1) 14.307 ms 9.365 ms 9.814 ms 3 218.101.61.74 (218.101.61.74) 10.038 ms 41.432 ms 40.803 ms 4 218.101.61.69 (218.101.61.69) 41.750 ms 21.417 ms 60.197 ms 5 * 218.101.61.5 (218.101.61.5) 23.639 ms 68.953 ms 6 front1-clix.clear.net.nz (203.167.243.212) 54.975 ms 42.494 ms 28.520 ms 7 news.clear.net.nz (203.97.37.6) 23.873 ms 33.895 ms 31.169 ms Therefore it is in telstras interests to have it getting caned rather than having people using direct international traffic, particually in these days of no difference in what most customers pay for domestic bandwidth. I'm not saying that you are absolutely wrong, but i would like to hear from customers who actually have this complaint rather than a chinese whisper. |

| 516068 | 2007-01-16 02:53:00 | Easy, sell/ give owner ship of your site to someone else ( Like I could help you run it); tell them you dont run a hate site about them any more, a few months latter go back to Telescum with a different user name & thats the end of that. That's bad advice stu. You'd have to be simple to think that Telecom would let that wrinkle run. I'd lay odds that the "new" site would either experience severe "technical difficulties", or be visited by men carrying briefcases and writs. Once you step past the boundaries of fair comment you are asking for trouble. Not only that, but this is a very public forum and that suggestion is likely to bring you up on Telecom's radar as well. You must have a death wish or something! Cheers Billy 8-{) :groan: |

| 516071 | 2007-01-16 18:14:00 | Telecom just love abusing their position. But like another company starting with the letter "M" likes to try and do. Todays paper "Telecom riles wholesalers Email this storyPrint this story Wednesday January 17, 2007 By Martha McKenzie-Minifie Telecom is accused of holding wholesale customers to ransom by not revealing for months exactly how much their charges will rise. Telecom announced this week fees for telephone line rentals would rise by between $1 and $1.85 from March. However, the company could not tell its wholesale customers - such as TelstraClear and ihug - how much prices would increase until March. TelstraClear spokesman Matthew Bolland said the uncertainty was "frustrating" and meant the company would not know if its charges for more than 60,000 customers would increase. TelstraClear customers in Christchurch and Wellington, where the company has its own network, would be unaffected, said Mr Bolland. Telecom spokeswoman Melanie Marshall said the delay for wholesale pricing was due to the way the rates were calculated. Ihug chief executive Mark Rushworth said the company was still deciding if its fixed line charges would rise but it would lose money on packages based on Telecom's indications. Mr Rushworth said he was surprised to learn of the price rise in the media. Email this story Print this story |
