516423 2007-01-17 01:38:00 Excellent, Glad to hear they have lifted their game.

Can you please advise make and model of Motherboard, Optical drive, ram, and confirm that video card is running at the clockspeed of the retail item. Can you also please advise of the rating of the PSU and the number of plugs and if it is using standard mounting for when it needs replacement. Can you please advise the number and placement of case fans and if the CPU is as per the retail item or a cheaper unit.

I presume everything is covered by a full warrenty comparable with what you can get locally including zero pixel replacement on that LCD?, Oh yeah, whats that LCD?, 4ms?, 6ms?......20ms?

Any chance the Motherboard has any options for future upgrades?, Do they give you full configuration options in the bios or is it restricted to changing the time, date and boot order?

Melta, I believe the LCD is 5ms response. Oh, I have just replaced 35 Dell opti plex workstations from work, which have been running fine for 5 yrs. Only had to replace 1 PSU and 2 hard drives.
I think thats a pretty good effort myself.
While I think the Dell support is naff, I have yet to give pissed at pc build....

516428 2007-01-17 06:04:00 See the system below my post? A MUCH better system that I bought for a total of $1300, nearly a year ago.

Dell is a complete ripoff in my opinion. ANd many have complained of having mysterious, unbranded motherboards/RAMS etc.

Just go to a trusted computer shop (not noel leeming or dick smith, but something ETCcomputers or QMB) give them what money you have, and tell them to build the best they can from however much money you give them.

It included some pretty good CRT monitor, although I didn't need it and was sold to a neighbour. It had some softwares that my father needed.
