At the Test site above, it shows all of the ports are in stealth mode, even though I have configured the router to allow Port 21 to be open in the virtual server setup screen. I am unsure if the router config requires anything else to be setup, but could it be that packet forwarding needs to be enabled? I only have windows firewall running (hence the reason for getting the router), and at present it is disabled.... Is it possible my router is faulty? Why can I FTP using WS_FTP to ftp.drivehq.com but not with the weather station software FTP program (FTPUPD)? |

I tried anonymous ftp'ing ftp.tokaanuskihire.co.nz (IP=64.33.19.149) using both Firefox and the windows ftp.exe program from within a DOS window in Win98SE, using my email address as the password, and logged on ok. Both show that there is nothing there at that site, no directories or anything, just an empty site. I wouldn't assume the router is faulty at this stage, these things can be awkward to set up. It's like trying to test out an ftp server set up, you have to connect to it using a different IP address, like another computer on dialup when the server computer is on adsl. |
