516241 2007-01-15 07:08:00 This was hinted at in the spybot forums
clash between virus checkers (any make, in my case ca anti virus 8.3)
disable or suspend virus checker, do spybot scan, re-enable virus checker.

516242 2007-01-15 08:27:00 I know one thing, with a Celeron running Spybot you put the CPU under max utilization ,with mine you know when there is dust building up as the CPU fan starts to become audible,I run Statbar and you see 100% CPU most of the time. I have seen a gaming comp with the latest of everything run five times as fast scanning,so having things running in the background would not help Lawrence (2987)
516243 2007-01-15 20:09:00 On Spybots forum several people have said its AVGs resident part inteferring.
They have fixed it by turning that off or uninstalling AVG.

Might work for you but it is not the problem for this lady.

Lawrence - she is not the only person with a Celeron and Spybot - but so far she is the only one I have come across.

516244 2007-01-15 20:52:00 I would look elsewhere.
Are Microsoft automatic updates running, installing and affecting the registries? How many programs are running in the background, like Adobe Acrobat reader, camera applications; how many firewalls are running [ZoneAlarm scraps with the firewall in the Xtra broadband router].
Have you had a look with a registry cleaner?

Nope.
None.
None.
Yes.
I turned everything off, I watched Task Manager, Spybot would go to between 33 and 63 at the sticking points, the only other process doing anythingwas System Idle.

I turned off a load of other services too in case. None of it helped.
This is Spybots thread on it:

Most people are still saying its AV.
I uninstalled the damn thing completely and it didn't help.

She is trying this new file to see if it helps.

516247 2007-01-16 05:38:00 Are you running the ADVANCED version of Spybot?

If not, enable it and accept the conditions and then when you have the front page up,

click on UPDATE, get and install them, if it hangs, pop down a different site to get them from by first clicking on Check For Updates again and start all over . BOTH green bars must run at the same time or you are not getting anything at all .

click on IMMUNIZE, and use the green + in the top under the banner to make sure you have all the immunization running . . . . then

click on SETTINGS and then on Ignore Products . . . here you should not see any boxes with check marks in them . . . if there are, remove them all by right clicking in the white open field area on the main page and then click on Deselect All .

click on Tools and make sure that every box is clicked!

Now, go back to the top of the tree and click on Spybot S&D and NOW Check For Problems .

If you have any of those boxes checked off in "Ignore Products" then Spybot is running only partially . . . and you want to check everything . . . this might be why CoolWebxxxxx is running so slowly .

Any time you get a problem with Spybot, then it has been messed with by a virus or malware . . . you've gotta check it from time to time .
