2007-01-15 04:21:00 | I am getting, periodically and seemingly at random, the message "DxDeedfade" unknown software exception - in Word and Excel. The programme then does the usual "sorry for the inconvenience" and exits stage left. A small dialogue box then reports "Run time error 217" - which presumably is a software exception. Everything appears to work as well as ever but.... this is a bit disconcerting!! Anyone experienced this / know of a fix ?? Many thanks Brent

2007-01-15 05:12:00 | Can you double check that "DxDeedfade", I suspect it is actually 0x0eedfade ? | godfather (25) | |
2007-01-15 07:38:00 | Many thanks for the quick reply... wouldn't you know it.. I can't "cause" the error just at present - stubborn refusal.... I did say it appeared to be random. Shall report as soon as I can check what you asked... Brent

2007-01-15 19:49:00 | Yes - you are quite correct and I confused a "D" with a "0" so the message reads 0x0eedfade. | Trader46 (8437) | |
2007-01-15 19:59:00 | The causes appear to be numerous, but an infection by malware (adware/spyware/trojans etc) would be high on the list, as would be some unwanted interaction withy Nortons antivirus if you have it loaded. Check what "add-ins" you have loaded for Word and Excel, try removing them and see if things come right?

2007-01-16 21:52:00 | Have run Ad Aware and McAfee on entire system. Found nothing. Problem persists. Do not use Norton.... not sure where to next!! | Trader46 (8437) | |
