| 517333 | 2007-01-18 22:16:00 | Hi all I need a network cable that is about 50m long i have looked on the tricky dickie site but they seem a tad dear, when i look on trademe they are a heck of a lot cheaper, but are they any good thanks |

| 517334 | 2007-01-18 22:46:00 | Do you mean Cat5E cable? If so, I have always heard that over 50 feet /about 16.66 meters, there is a very severe degradation of signal... I run a 50 footer and have no real troubles...but I do notice some lag and loss of picture - sound sync at that distance. |

| 517335 | 2007-01-18 23:07:00 | The standards say that Ethernet should work up to 100 m. A cable from Trademe should be OK, but it depends on who made it. The cable is made to a standard; but there are two different sorts of plug made (for solid and stranded conductors) and some people don't know that.:cool: DSE will guarantee their cables. |

I run 1X100 and about 3X40 meter cables here with no loss of anything at all, I would guess you would have to run over 300metres to notice any slowdown. Streaming over distance will be fine, just moving very large files you may notice a slow down. I think the standards say max length of 100meters edit.must learn to type faster |
