516775 2007-01-17 07:39:00 (Hey Guys!) I need to know what it means

my friend came over to try figure out my slow speed on Go Large .

So he brought over his wireless router, plugged it into my phone jack and logged onto his account which is on Orcon (he gets mean speeds at home) . . . no change to my speeds :( .

so he said its most definantly my line, but i noticed that the IP which it connected was still in the 125 xxx xxx series

so what i need to know IS .

even though im logged through his account, my broadband speed is coming from the exchange, so ill still be getting slow speeds cause its still connected with tele-gay

OR

is it as he suggested, my line is crapped out . which brings another question .

because my line outside my house is apparently okay (techy checked it about a month ago) but didnt check the one inside my house . so if it IS my line, why did it just screw up as soon as i change to GO Large, as it was sweet prior to changing . . .

THANKS :)

516776 2007-01-17 07:55:00 Couple of questions

1. Is your friend on the same exchange as you are?
2. What sort of speed are you getting?

That’s the best, I have seen of Go large

(I am also on Go large & after we complain a lot to Xtra as we where getting less then 20KB/s after we switched to Go large), we for a time got 400KB/s (we use to get 3.5M = 300KB/s, I think?) & now we are back to 100KB/s – 150KB/s aprox & we need to get back on to Xtra & get back to 400KB/s

516779 2007-01-17 08:04:00 What speed does your friend get on his Orcon plan? & is he on a full speed plan? e.g. 7.6M stu161204 (123)

Then if that’s the case e.g. your line was fine before Go large then it sounds like the problem all Go large users are having (Do a search of PressF1 for Go Large & take a look at this 54 page thread: pressf1.co.nz

& its time for you to complain like mad to Xtra

sorry stu . i was meant to say i get like 300kilo bite? maybe, im not quite sure the difference, but on the nz dsl site, the needle barely moves from where it starts .

my download speeds are like 20kB MAX haha, unless i use a d/l accelerator

and yeah dont worry . . they know me at Xtra now :P hahah "OH ive spoken 2 you before" from one of the operators haha .

im getting free internet at the moment (make them credit me every month), but id rather pay and get what they should be giving me

EDIT: and my mate is OFFICIALLY on a 256k plan, but he is getting full speeds haha . torrents at 200kb downlads etc

Are we talking kilobytes or kilobits? (I am talking kilobytes), if your getting 300 kilobits, then that not good .

Here is my lasted speed test @ 9:22 pm

Download Speed: 811 kbps (101 . 4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 131 kbps (16 . 4 KB/sec transfer rate)

What do you get from nzdsl . co . nz?

That's because Go Large is an unauthenticated product so you can put any username in your router and it will work regardless and you'll still be on Go Large, it's done by the port you're connected to so any testing with any other ISP logins won't make a difference .
