2007-01-18 07:28:00 | I never switch off my computer. At night it is either burning a dvd, doing a virus scan, or a defrag! | mustang14a (11787) | |
2007-01-18 07:37:00 | I have always left my computer on most of the time, I only turnt it off to reboot it after an install. However I was reading on another forum a while ago about this same topic and somebody posted a link to a website from Seagate I think it was, and on their website it said that PATA IDE Harddrives should only run for a maximum of 9 hours a day. Or eles you will shorten their lifespan. Servers, and I think Serial ATA drives are made to run 24/7.

2007-01-18 07:39:00 | um..one off at night, one always on i have to say..once you get use to having a computer always on..you can't wait for bootup any more the one always on is running linux..i don't really think xp can be on too long anyway when that linux machine was still running xp it pretty much died at around 2 weeks without restarting luckily linux don't have the problem and having one always on means i can still have a computer to use when i wait for the other to bootup :D

Aside from worrying about paying the power bill there is no need to turn either system off either in the home or at work. |

2007-01-18 08:26:00 | $200 a bucks a year to avoid booting up my main rig and typing in my name?, Damn thats some good spending. Worth every penny. If your PC is so crappy it runs poorly without a "clean boot" every morning then you seriously need to get a life. And Apple Boy, If you only made a post on subjects you actually had any comprehension of........You would be at 1 post a week instead of the 30 a day your peaking at.
