| 517940 | 2007-01-21 03:53:00 | I have had 3 P4 motherboards ( with 2.8GHz processors ) die - The only way to turn the computer off is to pull the plug. Then when I go to turn it on the fans spin but there is no power LED light, nor and beeps, nor anything on the screen. I have replaced the RAM and processor and the Gigabyte motherboard twice. Then I replaced the last Gigabyte motherboard with an ASUS one. That failed a couple of weeks ago. These are in a Saturn Case using that power supply. I have just used my other Saturn case (the 766 motherboard is larger that the Micro case would allow). Installed the 766 motherboard, processor and RAM and took the power supply out of same case (Fosconn) the 766 motherboard was in and having to re-install every thing all over again. Any ideas? |

| 517943 | 2007-01-22 03:34:00 | I replaced the power supply yesterday. However, it's only a 250W and it is connected to the same motherboard as it was in the original case. The original setup was a 300W power supply in a Saturn case connected to a motherboard with 2.8GHz processor (don't have another spare motherboard that would take a P4 processor). Last time I replaced the motherboard - I tried/swapped the RAM and Processor with another computer. This time I had a spare Power supply - The motherboard did the same thing with that power supply. If the power supply is faulty it must be intermitant and killing the mother board! |

Last time I had this - I also took the motherboard out of a good computer (The ASUS Mbd) and put the replacement motherboard (Gigabyte) in the computer the Asus motherboard came out of. That got the computer working. Prior to upgrading to a Gigabyte case I was also using a Saturn case (Mid tower - the one that now has the 766 motherboard and 250W power supply). I have been suspect about those cases (One reason I changed - the other reason was to go silver or black to match the rest of the set up). I also heard that another Gigabyte motherboard died that was also in a Saturn mini-tower case. I don't know any further details as some one else fixed that computer. |
