| 517837 | 2007-01-20 07:52:00 | I've just been on a big learning curve trying to get to the bottom of my disk controller errors which have caused strange problems just recently on my ASUS A8N-SLI mobo. In a nutshell, if you are contemplating nvidia mobo chipsets with SATA drives, do some googling first. I found I definitely wasn't alone with event id 11 and 51 disk errors. Don't even think about a 680i board, either. Even more puzzling, my system has been going fine for over a year and suddenly, with no provocation, these errors started. For some, disabling NCQ on the drive(s) got rid of the errors and I am testing this out now. So far so good but too early to relax yet. I wish I had done more research before removing my PATA drive, which appeared to be giving the controller errors, and buying another SATA drive! (Talk about frying pans and fires!!). Just a friendly warning. |
