2007-01-20 03:22:00 | Hi all, The sound on my laptop has recently carked it. No idea what's going on, no recent hardware or software upgrades been done. There's no issues in device manager, saying it's working perfectly, no conflicts or anything. Have tried updating drivers, no luck. As it's a laptop, it has built in speakers, which aren't working, and the headphone out jack doesn't work either. I have a USB FM broadcaster, which works fine when plugged in. TIA, Roddy

2007-01-20 03:27:00 | Go to sounds and audio devices in control panel / audio tab. Change the default playback and recording device back to the soundcard. Sounds like the FM broadcaster has made itself the default device for playback and recording.

2007-01-20 03:35:00 | So, are there 2 entries under playback and recording?? One for the soundcard and one for the FM broadcaster? A fax/voice modem will also be here, if u have 1 installed. Whats this? Conexant AMC Audio? The soundcard? So is the onboard sound working or not? If u change the default or unplug the broadcaster?

2007-01-20 03:40:00 | When the FM broadcaster is plugged in, there are 2 entries for playback; USB Speakers, and Conexant AMC Audio. There is only 1 for recording, Conexant AMC Audio. No modem. The Conexant AMC Audio is the onboard sound in the laptop. No, it won't work if I change it or unplug the USB broadcaster. Thanks

2007-01-20 04:28:00 | Yeah I already checked that, nothing muted, windows system sounds aren't working. Checked BIOS to see if it was disabled, but no such luck | roddy_boy (4115) | |
