517519 2007-01-19 06:27:00 Xp operating system. 80gb Western digital and new 80gb Seagate
My system was giving minor problems and I needed more disk space so I fitted the Seagate on it's own, Partitioned and Formatted loaded XP and activated.
All is fine except that I cannot get onto my Ihug broadband. It won't display the http://10.1.1.2 usb page for configuration. If I revert to my original disk broadband works fine.
Ihug can't get me connected and tell me to ring dlink.
I don't want my original disk in as a slave because I want the new XP operational.
Any Ideas please?

517520 2007-01-19 06:47:00 So you installed Windows fresh. You then did the motherboard chipset drivers etc????

Plus it would be better using broadband on ethernet, USB sucks for ADSL.

517521 2007-01-19 06:52:00 Have you loaded the USB drivers for the router on the new copy of XP? CYaBro (73)

No what i was meaning was there are drivers needed for the router if you are connecting it to a USB port or did Windows pick it up automatically?

What model router is it? Have a look in the Device Manager and see if there is anything in there with a yellow exclamation mark on it or anything listed under Unknown Devices.

517524 2007-01-19 09:57:00 Like CYaBro said, since it is a new install of XP, and you are using the usb cable with your dlink router then you need to reinstall the USB drivers for the Dlink router. So that means you need to bring out that CD that came with your router and find the drivers on it and install them. Yeah I wish USB was as universal as it sounds. kennie (10559)
517525 2007-01-19 10:17:00 Get a cheap network card from Dick Smith, or try pick up an old 10 meg one free off someone - it will be a lot better than using USB. Greven (91)
517526 2007-01-19 11:07:00 Yeah you need to install the ADSL modem driver for USB.

If it was a network cable connection, you don't need drivers. Even win95 can use this type .. or maybe even win 3.1 if it has the TCP protocol installed.
