517630 2007-01-21 00:21:00 I have the USR 9108, and found it to be excellent. It also allows you to print to a normal USB printer wirelessly without having the computer on, you just connect the printer to the router. This is a very cool feature. I also got a free USB phone with mine bundled with the router, so you can't really go wrong with it.
I have however heard of people who have had major problems with wireless with linksys products, which is why I went for the USR. It also as a range booster if you also use a USR wireless card on the connecting computer.

US Robotics has been around for ages, I like the printer server function!

517632 2007-01-21 05:22:00 Because it is... a modem is something that you connect to the internet with... what else would it be?

Technically it is an ADSL modem with a 4 port router and wireless, it CAN be called an ADSL router... but that is not the technical name

Uh...No.

A modem is device that converts an analog signal into a digital signal and vice versa, It's short for modulator/demodulator.

An ADSL router does none of these functions, It just receives the signal and lets it through.

517633 2007-01-21 05:36:00 I got the Netgear DG834 v3 Router and switch combo, only about $140+

Has Wireless as well as parental features (site blocking and a few more)

Of course, I changed the routing modulation to stop it from stopping suddenly like a few others have posted about already.

517634 2007-01-21 22:53:00 bob, could you please expand on the modulation issue as I have one of these routers to install next week!

TIA.

Here (blog.keithpatton.com DG834GSolution.aspx). Problem is, that it is rather complicated to the untrained and you are dropping your modulation to a lower spec'd one.

Still, it gives the brand a bad name. People who purchased he first version have posted bad reviews all over the internet. Maybe Linksys should provide all people who purchased the defective version 1, with a new one without the known problems.
It is kind of like the Skoda brand. Skoda have a really bad name, due to previous cars that they made. They now make cars with their parent VW which are very reliable, but they struggle to sell them due to the bad name skoda has.
