518795 2007-01-24 03:55:00 Got this:

AVG.exe -- Ordinal Not Found

The ordinal 16184 could not be located in the dynamic link library OLEAUT 32.dll

Any ideas...it didn't Google as an XP problem and I tried a few various versions of the error to see if I could find it.

The one thing I forgot..all the answers have to do with 98...and I'm not using that.

518797 2007-01-24 04:24:00 Hi Joe. Pro or free version? I have the Pro version and have found the AVG team great to deal with by email. I'm not sure that this courtesy stretches to the free version. Scouse (83)

Actually, this is just after yesterday's update to the new version of AVG Free...but not on this computer...it is a friend's and they asked me....

I searched my own puter and found a few versions of it; one says it's a backup with the little file cabinet icon...Hmmmm?

Can I just send a copy of that to her...but which one?

Internal search yields these 7 versions:

1) C:\MYDOCUMENTS
2) C:\undo\backup.cab
3) C:\WINDOWS\SYST\32
4) C\WINDOWS\$NtServicePackUninstall$
5) C:\ProgramFiles\B's Recorder GOLD5\LeadTools
6) C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386
7) C:WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\dllcache

I used the case-sensitive search mode and got them without so much case-sensitivity....the original file was : OLEAUT 32.dll, but that didn't make a difference.

How do you recognize which one if flubbed? It was found in the AVG scan while it was running as an error, not something it found wrong. I suspect the i386 one.
