| 518279 | 2007-01-22 06:34:00 | I know...I know....another *&^% thread about this. I've searched, but I can't see the forest for the trees! There's sooo many threads, but the one's I've looked at seem to be mainly hardware-related. So I'll start afresh, and see if anyone answers....:o Got me a new Tosh lappie, and the CD drive has on it CD-RW and DVD-RW. So I'm assuming that by default it will also deal to straight -R's... Tried to burn some photos to a CD-R. Can copy music from WMP. Seems I have some software on this called Sonic DLA. This charming piece of software tells me I can only burn photos to a -RW disc. Tried various things....when I try to copy through Windows Explorer I get a message saying " "D" drive is not accessible"! Soooo.....I'm assuming that: I have a semi-decent CD/DVD drive if it has the -RW capability, and I have crap burning software! Any suggestions for user-friendly, can-handle-it-all burning software. Freeware preferably....and can be d/loaded via dial-up!! I'm off to check out Nero....but will hold off till I get some replies. Cheers AB |

| 518280 | 2007-01-22 06:42:00 | The program is most probably crap. You can use a CDR or RW for photos. BUT, u dont just copy it to a cd like a floppy, if u want to use it in a standalone cd or dvd. You need some kind of program to burn it to the cd/dvd. Nerovision would do it, but the plugins it uses arent free. Or most Ulead programs should do it too. Well if ur planning on getting Nero 7 lol I wouldn't unless u have like 10 hrs to spare and you're on dialup. I got it the other day had to start at 3 in the morning it didnt finish until 1/4 past 1 in the afternoon lol. The download is around 190 mb for the latest version. |

| 518281 | 2007-01-22 06:44:00 | You on dial-up Speedy???? Might I have to buy some software from my (ahem) friends at Harvey Normans??? I have Nero on my desktop . . . . . . can I copy it to a disc and dump it on my lappie? If so, what am I looking for on the tower to copy, so when I put it on my lappie it runs and installs? |

| 518282 | 2007-01-22 06:46:00 | You on dial-up Speedy???? Might I have to buy some software from my (ahem) friends at Harvey Normans??? I am indeed, I'm on dialup. Broadband is too much of a ripoff. Unless I immigrate / deport myself to some other country anytime soon, I''ll still be on dialup in another 10 yrs time lol. There a re other programs around but shareware and most probably wouldn't do a hell of a lot. There was a free cd/dvd program around, I just cant remember the name of it. CDburnerSE or something. |

| 518283 | 2007-01-22 06:51:00 | Yeah? Someone told me today she has broadband through Telstra for $10 more a month than I pay xtra for dial-up. And after three hours of downloading today, it's well worth it! |

And after three hours of downloading today, it's well worth it! Well I could get BB coz we have 2 separate lines here . Only thing is, my flatmate wont let me drop my line and use hers . Which means I'll still be paying for my line rental and the net, instead of using the line rental for paying for broadband . And right now, i cant afford to pay both the rental and for BB . |

I have Nero on my desktop . . . . . . can I copy it to a disc and dump it on my lappie? If so, what am I looking for on the tower to copy, so when I put it on my lappie it runs and installs? Um is Nero installed? If it is u cant just copy it to a cd and put it on the laptop, it wont work . But if u mean the install file is on the desktop, if u CAN copy it to a cd, and finalise it then put it on the laptop it shouldn't be a prob . I take it the Nero on the desktop is what u downloaded?? Not an OEM version you had already and it came with the desktop? Coz an OEM version, even if u copied it to cd and put it on the laptop it will install BUT won't work, since its tied to the burner it came with . Unless u change the serial # . |
