518406 2007-01-22 21:39:00 Hi
I currently have 2 computers connected to my router DSL-504G. 1 of them is me and other person is the internet bandwidth eater. Is there anyway to restrict this?. I know i can install netlimiter into his, but i want something running from my pc or the router itself.

518407 2007-01-23 11:42:00 You could do a number of things, namely setting up a small linux box that routes the traffic, which can then:
Limit the speed to all IPs on the LAN with the exception of yours
Run a Proxy that requires authentication so that no matter what PC the other person is on, it requires a Username / Password, and you can then quota the usage through that
Login limits on the PC itself?

What kind of traffic is it? Gaming? Torrents? File-sharing/P2P? HTTP? Streaming Video? FTP?

518411 2007-01-24 04:15:00 There's a cable going to the bandwidth hog. Sidecutters are very useful tools when you want to cut wires. Graham L (2)

518413 2007-01-24 07:12:00 I have just flashed DD-WRT onto my routher (WRT54GL) and under QOS it can set max rates for each of the individual wired ports, it actually works too... I tried a net speed test and it was at the limit...

Not sure if it supports your router though...

Went on whirlpool.net.au and saw that it doesnt allow QoS prioritisation.

Any other way?

Any other way? That is that firmware, 3rd party firmware will like DD-WRT as I said above. and it is not prioritisation, it is actual speed limits.

BUT I am not sure if you router is supported
