2007-01-27 06:58:00 | MS finally produced an outstandingly good program: Expression Web. It leaves FrontPage 2003 for dead and gives extortionately expensive heavyweight Dreamweaver 8 a fright. The trial version runs out in February but MS NZ can't give me a release date here. Maybe mid-year, but ummm not sure. Don't think we have the support staff. Hellooo... Offered my services - no comment was the loud reply. It's been available on Amazon USA since last year - they're not allowed to sell it to we aliens. Home of the brave, land of the free market. No wonder people migrate to Linux.

2007-01-27 07:07:00 | Although I have never used Frontpage I am assuming there is a good reason why pro web developers worldwide use Dreamweaver over Frontpage. Much the same as to why designers and developers use Adobe software instead of Microsoft software for layout, design and web pages aside from stuff like .net and visual studio which are well made and developed by Microsoft. | winmacguy (3367) | |

I bought Dreamweaver because I'd outgrown FrontPage and was really using it just as an HTML & CSS editor. Then I tried Expression Web. It has some advantages over Dreamweaver and it's not tied to the accursed FP extensions. It's not an upgrade of FP - it's a totally new, standards compliant professional tool. Particularly good with CSS. In fact it's going to prove an embarrasment to MS because it's complies with CSS tags which all versions of IE are oblivious to. But MS are p*ssing me off so much that I'll probably stick with the Dreamweaver learning curve. |

2007-01-27 08:39:00 | I heard they employed some ex-Dreamweaver program designer to help them with Expression Web. And also Microsoft also keep sending me emails telling to receive a free copy of this but you have to go to one of their conference things in the US to actually receive it.

2007-01-28 03:47:00 | Did you get a satisfactory response from the US? Well to be honest, no. But the main point is that the US office actually tried to resolve the problem (associated with Vista) and were in touch frequently as compared to the NZ office which just said "No" and asked if there was anything else. And they have the power remember, being based at Microsoft's headquarters.
