519408 2007-01-26 10:51:00 Hi there........ Looking at monitors on TradeMe. Interested in a ViewSonic, but it has this disclaimer:
This CRT is about 3 years old and has *SLIGHT* mis-convergence in the corners which is hardly noticeable (it's literally a fraction of a millimetre).
Is this anything to worry about or will it steadily get worse?

519409 2007-01-26 10:57:00 I wouldn't touch it, Unless it was free, and included delivery, and set up....and disposed of when required.

Hell, Some guy had 17,19 and 20 inch CRT's in the local paper for 10 bucks each.........

Thanks Metla, I'm not 100% sure about misconvergence

519411 2007-01-26 12:35:00 "Misconvergence is characterized by the appearance of individual red, green and blue lines (horizontal or vertical) where there should be single, one-colored lines. The influence of surrounding magnetic fields can cause misconvergence."

Maybe ask a proper computer specialist if this raises an issue or call a company that makes/services monitors and ask for their opinion.

519412 2007-01-26 15:10:00 The convergence is partly alterable by the barrel/pincusion adjustments (if they exist) and partly by internal deflection "correction" magnets.

Even some cheaper new CRT's had minor convergence errors out of the box that were uncorrectable.

But basically a 3 year old 17" CRT is a scrap item these days, the freight would certainly exceed the worth. Though I see that one is in Dunedin anyway, so the next bid $11.50 would be about $1.50 above the right price..
