519365 2007-01-26 05:25:00 Hi -I don't really think this is a problem as such but just thought I would pick the brains of those of you who are more up with the play. Every so often when I'm connecting to the Internet (dial-up I'm afraid)-I simply play Solitaire till the programme loads. After a minute or so there is a popping noise coming from the monitor-yes I turned off the speakers and disconnected them also but the problem persisted. As soon as I stop playing the popping stops- very strange! The Monitor is a 3 year old KTC (don't laughhttp://pressf1.pcworld.co.nz/images/smilies/nerd.gif
:nerd:) and has started doing this about 4 months ago. It doesn't appear to cause any other problems but I'm curious as to why it is happening but appears to be connected to the speed I click the mouse!!??
And yes, to all who recommend another monitor, that is in the pipeline and that is the other question.
What would you recommend as a good/decent flat screen monitor to replace this monster with at a reasonable price and one that has had a good writeup. Regards Gordon

519366 2007-01-26 09:42:00 I'm sorry, I have no idea what a KTC is so are you looking for a new LCD or CRT flat screen monitor because you can simply pick up a decent CRT monitor at any Cash Converters. I know because I gave up my excellent Philips monitor only a couple of weeks ago. For a cheap yet very good LCD monitor, I recommend the MAYA 19 inch widescreen LCD monitor that I got from Compulink here in Auckland for $299. A bargain and a good warranty to go with it as well. Have a look on their website for further details. beeswax34 (63)
519367 2007-01-26 22:45:00 Are you sure this sound is coming from the monitor? Try turning the monitor off while it is making this noise and see if it stops. The computer case also has an internal system speaker which these noises could be coming from. Jen (38)

Have an idea there is a wee speaker inside the monitor which could be faulty

Hi Baldy-yes the popping is definitely coming from the monitor and I think you may be right about the "wee speaker" in the monitor. When I unplug the external speakers you can still hear the popping from the monitor and you can hear the dial tone coming from the monitor when connecting to the Internet. It's an ugly great brute of a thing anyway & some sort of flat screen monitor will be replacing it shortly when I have time to check out some specs.
Regards Gordon.

Hi Gordon,
Must be a month for monitor problems. Mine was making noises similar to tinitis ~ think I'll be going for flat screen as well. When I can get my head round the specs
