| 519297 | 2007-01-26 21:33:00 | Whats on the KM266 cd : 3 Tabs labeled >Drivers,Utilites,Contact VIA 4 in 1 drivers, <--- These I would say are the mobo drivers, install FIRST after u reinstall XP. You may have to reboot after these have been installed. You're using the KM266 now right? The ones below can be installed in any order, it doesn't matter. If u install SP2, or SP2 is slipstreamed on the XP CD. Don't worry about the USB 2 driver below. KM400 display driver, <-- (if you're not using the onboard video - don't install these), install the ATI drivers if you're using another videocard, and its ATI. ad1980 soudmax audio driver,VIA 10/100mb Lan driver,USB 2.0 driver Forget any of these Utilites tab has:ASUS PC Probe v2.22.01,ASUS update V5.22.02,PC-Cillan 2002,Abode Acrobat reader V5.0,ASUS Screen saver And don't install ANYTHING from the Intel CD. I would say it isn't needed for anything on this motherboard. (if the mobo you're using now is the KM266). |

| 519298 | 2007-03-05 22:08:00 | umm.........before you all go off and suggest formatting reinstalling etc......hopefully it's not far too late to tell you that i've been thru this exact same 'limited or no connectivity' issue with TWO different pc's recently........and after a LOT of hair tearing and websearching I was about to completely give up on this and perhaps also resolve it by repair install or similar.........i've tried winsock.exe repair etc etc etc.......and HEAPS of other stuff including hours fiddling around with tcp/ip settings etc etc.......grrrrrrrrrrr......anyway I just fixed one of the puters with a very simple cure (no not a hammer lol tho i've been tempted); cexx.org this works and although it mentions winsock etc it is different to the "WinsockXPFix.exe" |

And whatever entries trojans/worms etc may put in run, in the startup entries in the registry. And the latest version of TR, so it says (if u get trojan.mespam, which is a IM worm, which alters the LSP layer), will also fix this. |
