519277 2007-01-26 00:59:00 Ok, which computer is wired to LAN 1 at the back of the router? Which for LAN 2 and LAN 3?

So now all 3 are wired up?
I would disable wireless on all of them (as applicable). Rick click and disable. In networks neighborhood.

519279 2007-01-26 01:55:00 Try pulling LAN 1 out and pop in #2. Put the other into #1.
Does it fix it?

In my own exp, dynamic or static IP does not fix it. You can give it try though with the advice of Speedy. You may need admin rights so go to control panel -> users and make sure your login name you have admin rights.

I am back to front with you, with router its fine, without its not.

On the bad PC, is TCP/IP and SPX/IPX and Netbious installed? Right click your LAN connection (not wireless) and hit properties and see the list there. If not there hit the add button and add it. It should be under the Microsoft category. Try deleting all the protocols and reinstalling them.

If it still not work, maybe the bad PC can go via wireless instead?

519280 2007-01-26 02:01:00 Ensure the drivers are installed for the LAN and Wireless.
Pull out the cable out of router and stick into the other computer (PC to PC) with a cross over cable, does it work?

Has this bad PC ever worked and when was that?

519283 2007-01-26 02:42:00 I was just saying that without the router (PC to PC) I got your error screen but with the router it worked.

Anyway .. hmm... when it ask for the disc, put the windows XP disc in it.

If you have a cord, PC to PC, some are called cross over cable, if connected to 2 PCs you should have networking or the same sign pop up, what does it say? Or does it still say network cable disconnected. A crossover cables provides networking without a router, however a straight network cable does not work. A router is smart enof to work with both types (though traditionally straight cables). They lookt the same just that if you look at the wires closely, some are straight from one plug to the next and the other is crossed over (for crossover cable :D )

Much stuff on the bad computer? How much pain is it to install it again? Tried Speedy's advice?

519284 2007-01-26 02:44:00 You have Service Pack 2 on the bad computer?

519286 2007-01-26 03:08:00 When add those network protocols delete them all and add them back .. pop in the CD when requested.

If not work
Give the 2 links a go.

If still not work ...

if does not work you can "try" a format, but no gaurantees.
I formatted mine crossover cable still not work but once I got the router and got BB it magically worked. So I dunno......
