519222 2007-01-26 19:10:00 That would be an interesting legal concept--you must sign a statement aggreeing to be subject to a law before it applies to you.

I like the concept, but, unfortunately, it doesn't exist today.Funny that. A whole lot of big corporations also seem to have got it wrong then.

We're talking civil law here mate. You never seen an agreement that didn't require a signature? Are you out of school yet?

519223 2007-01-26 20:33:00 Thats how it is with Nero, when you buy a CD Writer. The software isn't worth anything without the burner with it. I am not sure it would be the same with a scanner, as you need the scanner to use the photo editing software.

Just to clarify - the scanner (CanoScan 8600F) has its own photo editing software, and doesn't necessarilary need Photoshop Elements. I have used P/Shop Elements for a good while, and it works alone with other digital input such as a camera, so I'd be very surprised if it was dependent on having the scanner. Isn't Nero a bit different as it works in tandem with the writer?

519224 2007-01-26 20:38:00 For gawds sake, just sell it if you don't want it ~ can't see what the big deal is. You haven't burn't umpteen dozen copies or anything Baldy (26)
519225 2007-01-26 20:51:00 The difference with Nero most probably is if u buy a burner you get an OEM version of Nero with it .

Which is tied to that burner .

And unless you change the serial number for that version of Nero, if u change the burner, and use the same OEM version of Nero, it's not going to detect the burner . And won't work with another burner .

And no just as long as the software is installed for the scanner, the program that came with it (if anything came with it, besides the drivers) doesn't have to be installed to use it .

You could use Ifranview, PSP, Photoshop, or any other graphics program that uses twain, or has an option for / to scan / scanners . And it'll work .

You're saying copyright law doesn't apply because you didn't sign the agreement? Get real.

519228 2007-01-26 23:21:00 Randolf. Seriously, if you do not want Photoshop elements I will buy it off you. Send me a PM and we can work things out. bob_doe_nz (92)
519229 2007-01-26 23:30:00 so if you install a second burner Nero won't recognise it:(

Correct. You got it.

If you put an extra burner in or replace the current burner with another, and the version of Nero came with the first burner (and Nero is OEM) the 2nd or the replacement burner, wont be detected / wont work in Nero.

Until, u change the serial #. To one that isn't an OEM serial.
