519397 2007-01-26 09:48:00 Why would the upload speed be so slow?

Because your in NZ, and being in NZ its almost a given that you have to get a service provided by Telescum and Telescum are doing their best to rape your wallet and provide crap in return.

BTW, that video on http://www.nzdsl.co.nz rocks.

That’s dam good imo, compared to our bad Go Large speed:

Download Speed: 1350 kbps (168.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 131 kbps (16.4 KB/sec transfer rate)

:groan: :stare: :annoyed:

Since I wrote the original post I rang the Telecom help desk and they "tweaked" my connection, so ups to them for that. I pretty well happy with my speed now....... My beef is the (nearly) $100 bucks to have internet enabled in my home ~ but thats another topic ~ for another time.
Stu....... what plan were you on before Go Large? IMHO I would suggest you change to one of the full speed plans such as Explorer 5GB. You won't be slowed down till you reach your cap ~ and then it won't be much slower than what you are getting now

Xtra Adventure

There is no such thing as Explorer any more ;) see: jetstream.xtra.co.nz

Plus we are a high bandwidth users (we could easy use 5 GB/s in about 3-4 weeks!) (due to my work), back when we where on Adventure we used 8 – 9 GB of our 10 GB cap.

So moving to a smaller bandwidth cap does not work for us, & the other plans like Pro cost to much.

519403 2007-01-26 11:29:00 Baldy,

Your upstream is so slow because you are on a 128k upstream speed, I think there is a 800k (?) but that is only available on the newer plans with Xtra - $49.95 for 2GB or $79.95 for 15GB.

If you pay 5GB for $45, I think Xnet is better, $33.95 and then 1GB per $1, if you only use 1GB they charge you that, you can set a cap on it .. like 10GB, after 10 its slowed down .. $45 you get around 10GB with them ... No contracts, no tolls, no connections.
