1411029 2015-11-06 01:06:00 Hi guys.
You know how you can burn an image of Linux onto a DVD and put it into DVD drive and reboot and run off that?

Does anyone know if that can be done with Windows 10?

I have a HP Computer I think its a 1.8 Dual core with 3 Gb's ram and a computer repair guy said it should run 10 very well, but wanted to know if I can do a trail run, before committing myself.

Thanks,

Ian

1411030 2015-11-06 01:31:00 No. Apart from anything else. it wouldn't fit on a DVD. Anyway, how could you assess performance running from a slow DVD drive?

Image the old comp then upgrade to win 10 (assume you have win 7 or 8.1 on that comp?). That way you know you can go back.

Alternatively, win 10 can be reverted to the old OS within 30 days.

1411031 2015-11-06 02:09:00 DVD NO -- USB YES.

Its called Windows to Go.

First you need the enterprise edition Of Windows 10 ( don't think the other versions have it) - you can get a 90 Day Free trial of Enterprise from
www.microsoft.com

Then follow the instructions from blogs.technet.com

All you really need is a USB drive big enough, and one that's able to be bootable ( not all USB drives are bootable)

Of course it will only last 90 days, but simply reinstall the OS, and away you go again :)
