1403926 2015-06-30 01:23:00 I am amazed at the number of "unlimited" UFB adverts on the tv and around the place.

Are they legal?
Are they trying to suck people in?

How can they be cheaper than a fixed amount of data?

I'd guess that they all throttle, hence the cheaper price.

1403928 2015-06-30 02:12:00 Exactly. Remember Go Large and Big Time? Remember the complaints many had about speed issues? That's why the unlimited plans are cheaper.
I don't see why it wouldn't be legal, all the conditions would be explained in the fine print stating that you can't complain if it slows down to dial-up speed.

A true unlimited plan without throttling\shaping wouldn't be so cheap.

1403929 2015-06-30 02:19:00 More often than not there is no shaping or throttling now days. Spark don't, Snap don't, Vodafone don't, BigPipe don't etc Alex B (15479)
1403930 2015-06-30 02:42:00 Few if any of the major ISPs throttle or shape their unlimited plans. How are they in any way not legal? They are a flat rate charge regardless of usage. The data cost is a relatively low proportional component of the cost of delivering the service to the average user. Just like there's tons of unlimited calls/texts mobile plans now. inphinity (7274)

They do... Or at least Telecom have unlimited plans for ADSL, VDSL and Fibre.

Most major ISPs do.

1403934 2015-06-30 04:34:00 If they're saying they don't throttle or shape it, it's either complete BS or they're allowing a complete and utter free-for-all which would likely give you a *worse* position... Coz they're *going* to be oversubscribing their bandwidth to a certain degree for sure! Chilling_Silence (9)
