Stonehenge and/or the Pyramids may have been computing devices, but they were fixed, not programmable.

This video features a programmable automaton with sophisticated features, devised and manufactured at least 250 years ago.

It is a work of art on several levels.

To be first to do something, would it not be compulsory to be a beginner? ;)

Yes Ken
That was my first reaction, but an incomplete, corroded artifact
that has no working example would not count in my view.

1403004 2015-06-18 08:23:00 I thought the first programmable device was called "A Husband".

If it wasn't called A Husband it was probably called "A Taxpayer".

Either way, like all programmable devices, these have been known to occasionally break down or to violate their code.

And like most programmable devices, most users find it simpler to replace them than to repair them.

Yep. I use to follow Ian Jury late 70's. "Got no right to make a clot Our of Trevor". His Clevor Trevor Video. (www.youtube.com) Very Witty english singer with a suprisingly excellent band of contemporary musicians - The Blockheads. I think because early memebers of Pink Floyd managed them.
