1402945 2015-06-17 19:45:00 I have an LG Smart tv and am fairly pleased with it.

But the USB and HDMI ports are at the back and about six inches in from the side.

So, as my tv is mounted on the wall, it is very hard to get a memory stick in and out.

So I have resorted to plugging in a USB cable to the ports and then the cable hangs down, so that I can easily plug a memory stick into the cable.

It works great, but the cables are very long and unsightly.

What do you think ?

Are all Smart tv's like this ?

What do you do ?

1402946 2015-06-17 19:57:00 My Veon TV is as well although it does have one HDMI on the side too gary67 (56)
1402947 2015-06-17 21:46:00 Our Veon, the USB is on the side, directly under the Side HDMI port, awkward to get to. We have a USB Extension Cable from that, its about 600mm in length.

Some computer stores or maybe even Dick Smiths may have them. Just looked and Ascent have a few short ones. www.ascent.co.nz 250mm or 25CM depending on how you want to measure it :) $5.22

If that link doesn't work, to see, go to Ascent and type in USB Extension Cable in the search.

1402948 2015-06-17 23:39:00 I use a simple USB extension cable - it's really short... about 20cm, which is perfect. But surely if you're concerned with the aesthetics some sticky tape should suffice? Greg (193)

1402950 2015-06-18 05:47:00 If I wall mounted my Samsung, I dont see how I could access any ports or plugs .
So I guess its a common issue ?

1402951 2015-06-18 05:53:00 Good feedback,

So it looks like Samsung and LG should really design the smart tv's so that the USB and HDMI ports are at the side of the unit.
But then I suppose that would make it hard to connect to any motherboard the tv may have.

Or maybe manufacturers could make ultra short usb cables about 15cm.
The shortest I could find a quick look at Jaycar only) was 1.8 metres. So I have had to use cable ties to bundle it up. But it is an eyesore.

1402952 2015-06-18 10:57:00 I was using a mini offset screw driver recently. Got thinking must be similar idea for USB connectors...So maybe a right Angle 90 Degree SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Vertical Male to Female Adapter Coupler Connector. See Google Images. (goo.gl) Or Amazon (www.amazon.com) HDE item. kahawai chaser (3545)
