Take Singapore, they say most working professional residents are foreigners but most of the residents live in govt subsidised housing. NZ for the moment still have land that the person can own with a backyard. Maybe some see NZ is a nice place to bring up children and to retire, better balance of work and life. To many there, NZ is quite affordable. I know some people who get married and they with their parents and after some yrs live with the in laws, some can be a culture too. | Nomad (952)

They're too contentious :pBut he's paying taxes , and sounds like a great husband and father for his family., without being a financial burden to others. Positive contribution if you ask me :) | Nick G (16709)

The problem with renting for life is that when you retire you have nothing but an empty bank account having paid $600 + / week rent that will give you no retirement savings or assets.. Do you really want that?? |

Do you really want that?? Thats true but there is no land you can buy in those countries so you have no choice. same in China the apartments are millions to lease for 50 years. you cannot buy them. But that brings up an interesting case as in Auckland, you can buy apartments.. what happens in 100 years when the building needs to be demolished?? It really is a kiwi thing to own your 1/4 acre |

We all feel good when money is being spent and that's why a lot of people feel good about Key's government . The money that Key is spending comes from - - earthquake insurance money coming into the country - sale of hydro works and other power infrastructure - foreign buyers buying land and houses - people feeling richer because the share market has been going up (an overseas factor) - and last but not least, Aucklanders spending up large because they feel richer due to house price inflation Those are good things in the short term but negative in the long term . And they benefit the rich . What has Key done for the 90%? To say that Key is making a positive contribution to society, based on his smile, is like saying Mussolini did the same based on getting the trains to run on time |

You'll never get an answer to that BB, :( theres a few people on this forum that are very good at making statements that are really only their opinion or beliefs, and if asked to provide some sort of proof to back them up they go all anti and wont or more like cant provide. |
