2015-11-13 02:06:00 | But then you end up with 100 000 000 entries in the hosts file. And have to keep adding to the hosts file, every day, and re-searching for new entries to add in , and it all becomes a bit much , and can never possibly keep it up to date to block everything. Much better to use an adblocker & ghostery. Then del all those hosts file entriesEditing the Hosts file is still the best and simplest option for me. I edited it once and never have to keep updating it.

2015-11-14 23:57:00 | yep - I was about to suggest Ghostery as well - I been using it for a loooong time now, wouldn't use anything else. SOME people not too far from here tried to tell me a while back that it doesn't block adds, only trackers/cookies etc! (LOL) I have used the hosts file for different reasons in the past, but for general blocking of adds, trackers and the rest, you cant beat Ghostery in my opinion. Make sue you go thru the settings and enable blocking of ALL trackers etc, not just the default....

2015-11-15 09:42:00 | I already had ADB plus but added Ghostery. Will try disabling ADB to check on Ghostery for this. Only took a few seconds to re-enable ADB plus. Who said Ghostery blocks ads?

2015-11-15 10:17:00 | i have tried all of the above extensions and more, BluHell Firewall is quite good, for instance, but at the moment I have ADB+, NoScript and other blocking extension disabled or removed and am using: addons.mozilla.org I find it the best I have tried so far, doesn't seem to slow down Firefox which ADB+ was definitely doing.

Who said Ghostery blocks ads? I did - why, what adds do you see ? I don't have any at all..not one. - but if I temporarily pause Ghostery, the page has adds at the top - in the middle of posts - down the bottom - everywhere. Re-enable Ghostery - not a single add So I don't know why you would see any - unless you just left it at default settings maybe |
