520138 2007-01-28 23:45:00 Since I cleaned out my HD yesterday, I get this constant reminder that "Found New hardware" and on Control Panel - System it says I miss a Multimedia Audio Controller. I probably deleted said program, thinking it's another of the son's games (I deleted approx 30 GB of proggies). Now, where the heck will I find this program on the Installation Disks - what does that refer to. I've got disks for:
- Samsung Combo (DVD/CD writer)
- InterVideo WinDVD4
- PCI card and drivers for Win
- Logitech (mouse probably
- Radeon installation Disk

Which one would be THE one?

Thx

520139 2007-01-28 23:47:00 I hope u uninstalled the games etc, not just delete the folder?

Multimedia Audio controller wont be on any of the cd's u posted. Its for a sound card. Which will be on the mobo cd if u have 1.

Is the sound working?

520140 2007-01-28 23:49:00 Do you still have sound? Does Windows offer any generic drivers when you get the new hardware prompt? Jen (38)

Hi, prolly the 3rd one....do you still have sound?, what did you delete? Was the New Hardware icon coming up before you started deleting files. You did you the proper application to UNinstall the 'proggies' didnt you!

Edit - snap!

520142 2007-01-29 01:09:00 Don't know whether the sound still work. Probably not - I am not much fussed about sound, my speakers are usually turned off but I hate the reminder. Or perhaps I will just Restore to before the big delete - won't that work?

Will check out all the CD's again because they were the only ones that came with the PC.

No, restore doesnt bring back deleted files, that is backup software, Restore is for settings only AFAIK
