| 521105 | 2007-02-01 01:38:00 | That "Unknown Device" indicates that the device is unknown. :cool: It's got nothing to do with the external hard disk; the OS doesn't know what sort of USB device it's plugged into. A USB device when plugged into a port is asked "who are you" by the OS. It returns a couple of numbers which are the manufacturer's "Vendor ID" and a "Product ID" as a minimum. There are other information things which are optional, and I suspect Windows can often use "generic" device drivers for common types of device. So either the USN enclosure is faulty or it needs a specific driver. |

As it appears to be faulty, I am asking for a refund - but being a TradeMe transaction of under $50 I suspect I may have "done my dough". I found the manufacturer's website (eventually), hoping I would be able to download a driver - unfortunately, it appears that Ez View Communications Ltd in Taipei no longer exist - the URL is a dead one... :( :annoyed: |
