521618 2007-02-01 06:42:00 Hi

I`m using Norton 2003 AV and would like to backup the updates file prior to a HDD format and XP re-install. Can anyone tell me which file(s) to backup to save myself around 14 - 15mb download once Norton is re-installed after the HDD format?

Cheers: Pipercub

521619 2007-02-01 06:46:00 I don't think u can. I would install something better /smaller like AVG/Avast/NOD32. Speedy Gonzales (78)

Free for home use are AVG or avast but if you want the best AV software go for NOD32.

521621 2007-02-01 08:43:00 thats the one of the things i hate with some antivirus software. they don't have an updated ver for you to download or a full update package. unlike AVG where you can download the whole fullyupdated ver if need be (assuming you didn't save the updates).

with nortons you have to update from scratch :(

521622 2007-02-02 07:12:00 Thanks all. Have installed Avast 4.7 on an older box to try it out. Already found 3 x trojan files Norton missed. Will probably replace Norton on this box as well if Avast keeps it up.
