521178 2007-01-31 21:13:00 Hi.

When trying to view this page...

http://speedtest.xport.co.nz/

..the browser shuts down. It happens with both Firefox 2 and IE7. IE7 leaves a error report on desktop, but its all greek to me:confused: . It can be viewed here...

homepages.xnet.co.nz

It has happened at a few other pages too, but all stem from same problem I believe. Something is wrong with java maybe.

Can anyone understand that text and enlighten me on what I can do to repair it.

Thanks:help:

521179 2007-01-31 21:28:00 It works for me but lies about the speed terribly! It uses 1000 bps = 1 Kbps and 1000000 bps = 1Mbps, which is simply wrong. Don't trust any ISP to give an accurate speed test. TGoddard (7263)
521180 2007-01-31 21:43:00 Uninstall Java (and all previous versions of Sun Java in add/remove programs).

And get the update here (sdlc2b.sun.com FC8C04671B5)

It may or may not make a diff.

521181 2007-01-31 21:47:00 Check your RAM, swap it out Rob99 (151)
521182 2007-01-31 22:01:00 I will trying reinstalling and Rob's suggestion too.
Just I'm not sure what "swap it out" is. Does this mean switching the dual channel ram sticks with each other?

521183 2007-01-31 22:21:00 OK. Reinstalling Java fixed the problem, thanks guys.

Still would like to know what "swap it out" is though....

"Swap it out"... remove it, re-place with another, and repeat until you get a satisfactory result - either positive or negative. Aka trial and error.
