| 521998 | 2007-02-03 02:18:00 | Can anyone help with the following? Turn on PC, Num lock, caps lock, scroll lock leds flash briefly, go out, post beep, 3leds flash briefly, go our. Num lock led comes on while XP loading, goes out, all OK. However, sometimes the 3 leds come on and do not go out. This is not always noticed by me until I start typing and realise there aint no text. Turn off PC and reboot, all is fine. Should I suspect the main board. Would a USB keyboard overcome the problem? all help welcome thanks. | dabtoe (11853) | ||
| 521999 | 2007-02-04 02:26:00 | It might be a faulty keyboard. But first, try unplugging the keyboard and plugging it in again. (Probably with the computer turned off is safest --- some people say that damage can occur if you hot plug a keyboard). That will clean the connector pins ... a poor contact there (just caused by time) might cause the microcomputer in the keyboard to not boot up quickly enough to respond to the POST commands which toggle those LEDs. |
