522040 2007-02-02 23:16:00 When I download certain songs, they do so in a format called .php which is a Real Media Player file but I need a converter so that my IPAQ can play it. I've tried many times with a lot of different programs all to no avail. I don't really mind what format it gets converted to, I just need it out of .php format.

Thanks.

522041 2007-02-03 04:16:00 PHP is a web scripting language, not a file type. Your browser is saving it with the name of the script that generated it. You need to find out what type of files these actually are. The extension in this case is irrelevant.

Try just searching for an audio format converter and see whether it can read the files. If it's a common format most tools should automatically detect what type it is. Convert to any format your iPAQ supports and you'll be fine.

522042 2007-02-04 03:10:00 Where are you getting this music from? You must not be doin something right if its saving it as a .php file. Open the .php file in Notepad and search for .rm, see if you can find the filename and figure what the _true_ format of the file is :) Chilling_Silence (9)
522043 2007-02-04 23:55:00 Some download managers mis-identify the file to be downloaded, especially for files from sites like SourceForge which start the download with a php script.

When that happens to me, I cancel in the download manager and let the browsers download program handle it.

Try the same download with Firefox and your download manager turned off and you shouldn't have a problem.

522044 2007-02-05 09:42:00 Thanks guys. I have used in the past Switch and many other popular file converters downloaded from Google all to no avail. The files in question are never recognised under "Supported file types"

The files I'm downloading are all Indian Bollywood songs and they're all from the most popular Indian music website and when i do try and open them in Notepad, all I get is the script that looks as if the comp is corrupted or like the Windings font in Word.

BigDog, I'm not using any download managers/accelerators. I've never used one in my life and Mozilla is all I use. I have forsaken IE for ever.

522045 2007-02-05 10:45:00 Somehow you're downloading the php script instead of the media file. Did you try selecting run instead of save? That might execute the php and start the download of the media file.

You could post or pm me a link and I can check it.

If you really need a media converter, the best one out there is free--it's called Super, but there are some people trying to rip-off the name for their inferior converters, so make sure you download the right one from www.erightsoft.com

522048 2007-02-05 13:18:00 Thanks a lot!!! Renaming it to .rm made it possible for me to convert the files. And bigdog, thanks for the awesome program. Is there anything it cannot do? beeswax34 (63)
