522495 2007-02-04 01:34:00 I installed this new a few moths ago, in an older computer. Does it matter that it gets hot after about half hour of reading or writing lots of small files onto a DVD? ssssss (2100)

Hi pctek,
The DVD in the drive being burnt or read gets hot.
It can't do it or the drive any good.
But there are thousands of small files involved
Thanks

522498 2007-02-04 23:29:00 1/2 hour?? What speed is this drive? What speed media are you using?
Are the disks failing or are they perfectly readable?

522499 2007-02-04 23:44:00 I don't think it is really a problem as my 2 Asus drives are quite warm all the time, one a DVD/CD rom drive and the other a DVD/CD writer.

Hi pctek,
Sorry about the delay in answering, but I am not connected to the internet at home, at the moment!
The liteon is a a 16x DVD/CD Writer and rewriter. I installed it on a Windows ME computer. I have just done a test and it is 5 times slower reading thousands of small files, than the DVD writer on my newer Windows XP machine. If I have a CD with 100 large files there is no problem. It is quick.
I think the problem may be that the ME computer did not have the recommended specs for the new drive.
