522838 2007-02-05 21:14:00 I think you might've missed the part where I said I'M ALREADY $600 OVER MY ORIGINAL BUDGET.

As for why go Vista - why not? If I'm building a new computer then why not put a new os in it?

As for ultimate vs home premium, the only thing ultimate has over home premium are:

Protect against hardware failure
with Windows Complete PC Backup and Restore

Easier business networking connectivity
with Networking Center and Remote Desktop

Better protect your data
against loss with Windows BitLocker Drive Encryption

Which isn't much.
sounds like a nice machine, how much xtra was the ultimate over premium anyway. doesn't it suck to blow ya budget

522839 2007-02-05 21:41:00 yea what he built had the exact same gfx, mobo i have no idea, but i forgot that you had the OS as well, and plus he performed self assembly, if you include all that then maybe $2K is worth the dosh. kingping (11473)
522840 2007-02-05 21:47:00 ^^ AND $120 freight. --Wolf-- (128)
522841 2007-02-06 05:33:00 Which is probably why SuperCheap did so well for so long. All the people that just want cheap without worrying about quality or after sales service.

i usually go to c1 shoppingmall, madkiwi, or ascent... i'll never go to super cheap again.

Why waste those specs on a floppy drive?

they come in handy

522842 2007-02-06 05:53:00 OK, i just spent 5 minutes putting my half built system up, and realised if i add in video card, monitor, and vista, then subtract PSU and case, i spend about $100 less and get a 320gb seagate harddrive and better ram, so my previous comment is a bit of an overstatement, but you still could do slightly better

get the 320GB hardrive, and whatever you do stick with a 7600gt, but possibly consider a different brand.

what?

he'll just end up uying another harddisk, and they cost very little extra. if he really wanted to save money he should settle for a 17inch rather than 19

Comfort and style come before speed (For me anyway)

In fact, I was just looking at roughly a $90 - $100 keyboard, why? Because it lights up blue in the dark. (www.saitek.com)

Sorry I forgot to mention the case in my original post, it's a Raidmax Ninja 918 Gaming Tower Case 520W (qmb.co.nz)

So if anything, with that case added, your setup is more expensive by $100
