523761 2007-02-08 04:50:00 Ok my problem is that I am having random slow down and jaggy performance. Sometimes when i move my mouse from one side of the screen to the other it will stop start stop start, that type of thing. Also the computer will freeze and not turn itself off or anything and will just sit there. I also got the blue screen of death once with the message "machine check exception". Sometimes i get overheating problems (water cool) but generally i get the BSD with "IRQ not less or equal". As a side note i have been unable to uninstall some things for a long while now, for instance i have far cry on my computer and wish too take it off, i go to remove programs and the installshield wizard pops up the bar fills to about 2/3 and then closes and thats the end of it. Ok so the computer was working perfect for the past few days but now gets a BSOD when Windows XP is loading up, does this mean a HDD error or a simple OS error, it also crashed opening safe mode so i'm completely locked up,please help. Also i got an error while booting from the Windows XP disk. I got through the loading of the files and then tell it to setup and it gets the following error

523762 2007-02-08 05:16:00 ntfs.sys is most probably the main prob, it could be corrupt.

Type sfc/scannow under start run and replace it. You may need the XP cd.

Unzip that HJT file put it in its own folder then run it again.

Then tick these entries and tick fix checked. Close browser/s.

These arent nasty tho.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_09\bin\jusched.exe" - Uninstall this and all previous versions. The link to the update is in my sig.

Is Alcohol up to date? As this can crash things / cause probs too.

I would install a firewall as well.

523763 2007-02-08 07:01:00 The collection of weird problems you're suffering can also, suprisingly, be caused by a wonky power supply. Greg (193)

Could be the CPU is overclocked too far???

I don't know anything about overclocking but this doesn't look like a normal CPU speed??

523765 2007-02-08 09:10:00 My bet is on general hard drive corruption. This would explain the BSOD (Inconsistent partition leading to failure in the NTFS driver) and the uninstall crash (it hits a file it can't resolve due to an inconsistent index for the partition and crashes as a result). I would recommend backing up all documents on to a portable drive or CD (remove the overclocking first). After that, you can try running some tests on the drive using a SMART tool. If the drive is damaged, you may need to replace it. If not, try reformatting the drive (NOT a quick format), reinstall Windows and see whether things work better. Don't rely on the system being stable for a few weeks.

P.S. Don't overclock a machine with critical data on it. If your information is important, you can make do with the manufacturer's safe settings. Overclocking = higher crash risk = higher HDD corruption risk.

523766 2007-02-08 09:18:00 Further to TGoddard, it doesnt appear to have the chipset drivers for your motherboard listed, are they installed?, correctly?. If overclocking, is your SATA plugged into the nvidia controller?, careful, they do cause issues when clocking and data corruption. You will have to check with the mobo manufacturer for board revision, but, 2 of the 4 ports are okay when clocking.
Of course, memory plays a bit when clocking too, have you isolated the limits of the mobo BUS( dont forget the HTT, drop the multiplier.), CPU and memory separately in order to calc the best stable clock?

523767 2007-02-08 13:36:00 run a ram diagnostic .......windiag from Ms is good drcspy (146)
523768 2007-02-08 21:26:00 I'd be checking the Hard drive. Run the manufacturers diagnostics support.wdc.com
Then boot into the recovery console (using your XP CD, press R when prompted to enter recovery console) and run chkdsk /f

Also, what power supply do you have? flaky problems can often be traced back to flaky power as well.

523769 2007-02-09 04:18:00 I have no overclocking whatso ever done on the PC. I think its a NTFS error but i dont know how to fix it. I found a howto:
www.retosphere.de

but that version of Linux is in german and i cant figure how to make it english so i can do as the guide says. Also my power supply is a Ultra Xconnect 500 watt atx.

523770 2007-02-13 02:09:00 Have you run chkdsk? trig42 (11325)
