523679 2007-02-08 01:25:00 Is there some sort of chat room or message board that PF1ers can go to during the Friday-Saturday (+Sunday?) PF1 server shutdown? Not an established technical forum as it would be unfair for us to invade for a day or two then leave. Surely there must be some temporary and free-to-use alternative? Thanks. Strommer (42)

523681 2007-02-08 01:31:00 I usually use Mirc and go on the austnet server.

A lot more people to chat to / with.

523682 2007-02-08 01:32:00 Thanks Stu - that will be better than nothing but if it is the usual kind of chat room then we cannot leave messages and come back later for answers - correct? Strommer (42)

The Good thing with the new chat room http://chatf1.pcresolutions.co.nz/ is that you can do that :D as it has an Archive, that you can go back & look & see if any one answered your question, plus you may find you may get answer right away.

523684 2007-02-08 01:34:00 Speedy - I was thinking of somewhere we could leave messages for Qs & Ans - mainly for technical emergencies or other important tech issues rather than chit chat. We need a URL to go to... Strommer (42)

523687 2007-02-08 01:50:00 Steve, a few suggestions:

Try alcohol.

Read a book.

Watch telly.

Exercise.

Have a party or go out on the town (invite the misses even).

Talking of the misses (hisses), how about a quick romp in the sack. I'm sure the good people at Fairfax will have the server up in running in no time at all, so it shouldn't be such an onerous task as you would imagine. What's that about Al Bundy?

Take the misses shopping. Hey settle down guys, it's joke ok.

Back up your system and clean out all the crud and malware.

Get a real hobby.

Get a hair cut.

Get a job and;

Do some freakin work for a change.

Do some maintenance on the house, boat, car, lawn, garden, misses.

Repair all your broken relationships. Gee, well you'll better pray the servers going to be down for a good deal longer then, eh!

Acquire a pet.

Walk, play with, cuddle said pet.

Meet the family.

Phone someone. Telecom, the IRD, your ISP, bank, you local MP, etc, all do very jobs of occupying time. In no time at all, it will be the next day and you'll have advanced exactly zilch.

Get an education.

Volunteer your services in the big office move.

Introduce yourself to the neighbours.

Try alcohol.
