Hi, I recently bought an upgrade pack, which came with an AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core 4200+, MSI ATX Motherboard, 512MB Legend (PC3200) DDR 400 RAM Sapphire Radeon X1600 Pro 256MB PCI-E (globalpc.co.nz). I have now installed Battlefield 1942, but whenever I try and play it, I can load a game but pretty much as soon as it starts, the game freezes, sound continues (doesn't loop though) and nothing can be done except to crash it.
I have updated Battlefield to the latest version, as well as my ATI graphics drivers. |

To test for CPU issues start the game, ctrl/alt/del to start task manager, go to processes, select BF1942.exe, right click and select "set affinity" and deselect one CPU. If it works fine it is the CPU issue so go to amd's website and download the latest driver for dual core processors. |

Just checking. When you got your upgrade pack, did you reinstall windows? May sound like a dumb question, but you gotta check. |

The set affinity for one processor worked, thanks! I will get new drivers for it soon. And yes, I did re-install Windows, I couldn't get the hard drive to work until I reformatted. |
