| 524056 | 2007-02-08 22:49:00 | Hi guys, I just bought a new cell phone that has the ability to play mpeg-4/mp4(they're the same thing right?) video file formats. However, I am looking for a free program that will allow me to encode other file formats (avi, wmv etc) to my fone. I downloaded a neat little one last night from Allok but it has an unremovable watermark in the output file. Any suggestions are welcome, Cheers Paul |

Also there are many .. ahem free? programs on the Torrent sites, have a search of them. Finally, a lot of the phone manufacturers have software on their website that will convert ya files to "their" format, anyway good luck I am sure ya will find what ya need.. Google is your friend .. lol | Silverdragon (11878) | ||

I have this on my PC but when I try and use it it says something or other about a licence problem and tries to make me buy a new version. Any ideas? It came with a DVD drive I put in a while ago. The easiest one will be WinAVI MP4 Converter I haven't tried that yet but am downloading it now. Cheers Paul |

I use this (www.alivemedia.net) But it doesn't do much unless you register it either Its good tho as it gives u the options in my computer. To convert any other video format to MP4 format. |

OK, I am downloading that at the moment to try. Does it let you actually convert files to .mp4 without registering? |

Yup, BUT: The free trial version of the Alive iPod Video Converter allows you to evaluate it for a 20 days period. During the trial period, you are only able to convert 60% of each file. Altho I registered mine. Most probably the first and last program I register. |

Ok fair enough.I just tried the WinAVI one, seems to work well apart from the watermark. Hmmm,*goes to find a 'solution'* |

| 524065 | 2007-02-09 01:51:00 | I downloaded latest ver of SUPER (erightsoft) last night - managed to get a YouTube video onto my wife's Sansa e250 player (from FLV to MPG format, then used the Sandisk tool to convert/rotate to the Sansa format). No registration seems necessary - it acts as a GUI for a couple of Open Source tools (ffmpeg being one), plus possibly its own converter. Lots of options (although there wasn't a direct conversion to the Sansa LCD size, hence I cheated on that part). Might be worth a go - I intend to check it out more this weekend. |
