524489 2007-02-14 20:52:00 Filters are a waste of time unless you have a very basic phone line with no extra sockets. That's not really accurate. Our house has five phone sockets, and the phone with a filter is on one of them. We don't have any more adsl problems than anyone else. Greg (193)
524490 2007-02-14 22:17:00 A couple or more years ago, Sky came and phone cabled my house as it had not been done with the original installation. That was when I was on dialup.

Immediately I noticed a drop of about 30% at least in my dialup connection and after a while wondered if Sky's phone connection could be the cause. Disconnected it and, sure enough it fixed the problem. Been on broadband since just after that problem but i have never hooked it back up again!

Like I say, it was dialup but it could be the wiring/box that is causing your problem.

524491 2007-02-15 07:04:00 We got our Sky machine fixed to our landline number by the tech.
We don't pay per view.

If you do .. line filters are under $10 ascent.co.nz or Harvey Norman.

Edit
Yeah it did stuff up our dialup .. then we got the tech to do that after he saw our cable unplugged :D Now we have BB and its also not plugged.

524492 2007-02-15 07:16:00 Ours was wired ****tily by an inexperienced sky tech so we just ripped it out, no loss to us. We never use pay per view anyway Tux (606)
524493 2007-02-15 07:24:00 When I said fixed, I meant you can leave the phone jack not connected and they dial a stupid number and it lock your Sky machine to a particular number? That was the impression it gave me anyway.

They do say something when they see the phone cable not connected, we just said, we dont use it blah blah and heaps of pple do that, we're not gonna pay per view.
