| 524439 | 2007-02-13 10:43:00 | I recently bought a 320GB USB HDD for backup purposes -- and it works fantastically well! After backing everything up to it, and reformatting both my laptop and desktop, I now occasionally need to grab a file or two off it that I didn't think I needed to restore at the time. My question -- is it ok to power the drive on and off as needed? Or should I turn it on and leave it on for the day? Or 24/7? I just don't want to destroy my (now invaluable!) backup device ... |

Don't think a USB one would do this but in a PC or laptop they do. Just make sure you stop the Removal Drive before turning it off just in case it is still being read or written to. |
