2007-02-13 05:02:00 | As you can see in the attached file: NoHelp.jpg (www.imagef1.net.nz) (56 KB), I seem to have lost my Help text :groan: This appears to only be in the Windows-type help files; the help for Firefox, for instance, is OK, but it seems to use a different system to the "standard" help. Any ideas? :badpc:

2007-02-13 09:48:00 | Do you have two versions of Office installed? | Jen (38) | |
2007-02-13 10:24:00 | Nope, just the one. It also occurs with programs like the freebie games (FreeCell, Spider etc) -- no help text with those either. Sigh. It wouldn't be a pain, except I use the Visual Basic help quite a lot while I'm writing Access databases ... and now there's none.

2007-02-14 08:05:00 | Fixed it! Anyone want to guess how? ... I'll give you a clue ... the answer has "IE7" and "uninstall" in it. Maybe not quite in that order tho' :) How bizzare! I only twigged it might be the case after reading in another forum I found via Google about how someone had lost their fonts after installing IE7 ... thought it might be worth a try uninstalling it myself :)

2007-02-14 08:15:00 | That is a bit bizzare. There must be some other combination factor involved to trigger the vanishing help text apart from just installing IE7, otherwise this would be a wide spread problem. Glad you got it sorted. :)

2007-02-14 08:56:00 | Yeah, I think you're right. Maybe it's a combination of IE7 and security updates and ... ? Anyway, I use Firefox and Opera, so not having IE7's not a real problem ... it just got downloaded and installed via the Automatic Update system. | davehartley (3487) | |
